few months old...

I found these goodies on Aaron's camera.

Some were taken a few months ago and Riley already looks so much older now!  Boo hoo.

Enjoy!

mellow day

Today (Saturday) Riley and I had a boring day.

If I can be honest.

At least I was kind of bored.

I'm so over summer.  Over it.  It's hot.  Humid.  Ugh.

If we're not walking outside, or playing in the kiddie pool - we're inside.

Today we played with toys.  Played in the kiddie pool.

Watched some Barney on TV (the purple dinosaur is still around!)

how creepy does this doll's eyes look?!  ha

cute Riley...psycho doll (at least when her pic is taken!  Scary.)
And, we made a drum.

Out of a good ol' oatmeal container.

(I was lazy - all we did was put construction paper around it.)

Fun.  Stuff.

Riley had fun.

I was kind of bored.

(Aaron is at work today...fyi)

And to top it off - Riley is having trouble going to sleep at night.

She's into the scared phase.  Scared of fire works (thank you, 4th of July, for ruining my child), scared of thunder, and scared of the dark.

I'm bored, tired and beat.

Here's to a better day tomorrow!

Bah hum bug.

I'm gonna go have a cookie that I baked today.

so cool

Cool shades.

A little big.

And, a little pink.

But SO cool.

(Riley picked these "princess" shades!)

I (we) love pink.

playdate and goodbye

Last week we had to say goodbye to some great friends.

I met Jen and her family last fall - her and I met through a mom's group we were in.

We made a point to get together every so often.  For us to talk, and for the kids to play.

Riley always had so much fun with her boys, Michael (4 yrs) and Ethan (1.5 yrs).

The boys now have a baby sister too!  Sweet baby Madison was born in June.

Anyway, we had them over last week to play.  At the end of our time together, Riley and I had to give big hugs goodbye.

They are also in the Air Force and are on their way to another base.  We wish them all the best!  They'll be missed.

These two are SO wild and crazy together!

Ethan (pretty eyes)

I got Ethan smiling!  He's a cutie.

Madison - amazingly sleeping through the craziness.

hair

As a side note...

I'm finally growing out Riley's bangs.

I had cut her bangs a year ago (if you don't remember, click here).

Back when I cut them I just cut whatever was hanging in her face, without really doing a great job at measuring how much to cut.

Anyway, it worked for the last year.

Many people liked them.  Honestly, I just got tired of trimming them.  I had to always bribe her with cookies so she would sit still long enough for me to trim them!

I also want to cut Riley's hair at some point.  She has never had the rest of her hair cut!  Once her bangs grow out some we will be getting Riley's hair trimmed up.  I think it'll look so cute, so I'm excited for that.

She may have bangs again in the future, but what I need right now is her hair to grow out so whenever she does get bangs again they'll be done professionally.

Wish us luck!

(And, now you know why you can hardly see Riley's eyes in any pics of hers right now...ha ha, the poor kid can't see unless she keeps a barrette in!  This is an awful hair phase.)

pudding painting

Riley had some fun the other day finger painting with chocolate pudding!

It was totally messy and gross looking, but she had fun.

I just wish I had bigger paper for her to paint on.  I will be buying some of that soon!

Anyway, it was a great outdoor activity and gave Riley a reason to be messy.

Aaron was at work that day, later when I showed him the pics he said "gross, how much pudding did you give her?"  Ha ha.

It was easy to clean up afterwards and we even had some leftover pudding I kept aside for us to have as a treat for dessert!

And for those of you who can view the videos...

Messy fun!

NY Vaca - July 2012

We had our annual summer trip to upstate NY to visit Aaron's family.  This is the vaca that we do every year with Emillie and Hannah.  Everyone had a great time!

I only got pool pics with my camera.  Aaron has some pics from his but I haven't even seen them yet.  So if I find anymore good ones worth sharing, I will post again!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
