the beach

Riley had her first trip to the beach earlier this month.

I know, I know.

We're pathetic!

We live an hour from the shore and have never taken Riley until now.

Honestly, it wasn't something I wanted to do with her last year at a year old (and definitely not when she was an infant).

All I pictured was her eating sand.

And me chasing her down the beach in my swimsuit as she ran away from us; not listening to "stop!"  (Not exactly Baywatch!)

Too, Aaron and I aren't hard core beach people.

It's nice once in awhile though, for sure.

If swimsuits weren't involved maybe I'd like it more.  HA.

(Yes, I'm uptight if you're beginning to wonder...)

Anyway, my goal was to always take her this summer.

And because we had a trip planned with my parents in September I didn't care to go earlier in the summer.

I wanted this trip with them to be special - for us and for Riley.

And it totally was.

I have zero regrets not taking her sooner because she had a blast!

She's at the perfect age for it too.

I didn't have to chase her (my parents did) and she didn't eat handfuls of sand (at least I don't think she did).

It still wasn't Baywatch, but my life never will be.

In all seriousness, it was perfect.

Thanks to my Mom and Dad for a wonderful beach vacation!

Riley's very first time seeing the ocean was captured on Aaron's iPhone the late afternoon we arrived.

She was a riot to watch!

These pics are from the days following.

I will see if there's a way I can share some of her first time with you all...

tricycle

A few short videos of Riley riding her tricycle...

We haven't really ridden this tricycle yet.

The seat was far back.  I tried fixing it once and couldn't move it so put it in the garage and forgot about it.

We finally took it out again and Aaron helped fix the seat so Riley could reach the pedals.  Yah!

It's awesome now, she loves it.

Another great find at the thrift store from Grandma Pat!

brownies

With all this rain we've had to do many things indoors!

Last night, we decided to bake some brownies...

This was Riley's first time.

We all enjoyed our yummy dessert!

CHEESE!
(all teeth...ha ha)

the gardens at Longwood

Riley and I went to Longwood Gardens (in PA) with my parents on August 26.

We've gone several times before but this was only Riley's second time.

She loves it there (just like us)!

I took a bunch of photos that day.

I really don't have the time to resize all of them to upload to my blog.

And, it's better if you view them all to get the best idea of our visit that day (even if some photos are blurry).

Here is a link to view the pics from this fun day!

As for videos...here are a few of that day.

Happy day,
